Job Overview


This is a senior leadership role that requires the successful candidate to provide strategic direction and operational management for one of Australia's most significant initiatives in Indigenous business.

The role involves representing the Centre across the Indigenous business ecosystem, driving financial sustainability, budget planning, and revenue-raising initiatives, mentoring and developing a professional team, building strong relationships with Indigenous businesses, communities, philanthropists, and government stakeholders, and representing the Centre publicly, strengthening its reputation across national and international networks.

About the Role

We are seeking an Associate Director who will lead the Centre's operations, governance, and compliance. The successful candidate will also be responsible for driving financial sustainability, budget planning, and revenue-raising initiatives, as well as mentoring and developing a professional team.

The ideal candidate will have extensive management and leadership expertise, proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver operational sustainability. They will also have experience in building strong partnerships with Indigenous communities, academia, and business, exceptional communication skills, governance knowledge, and the ability to represent the Centre publicly.

Your Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and operational management for the Centre.
  • Represent the Centre across the Indigenous business ecosystem.
  • Drive financial sustainability, budget planning, and revenue-raising initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop a professional team.
  • Build strong relationships with Indigenous businesses, communities, philanthropists, and government stakeholders.
  • Represent the Centre publicly and strengthen its reputation across national and international networks.
Requirements

The successful candidate must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage. They must hold postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience and bring extensive management and leadership expertise. They must also have proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver operational sustainability, as well as experience in building strong partnerships with Indigenous communities, academia, and business.

They will also need exceptional communication skills, governance knowledge, and the ability to represent the Centre publicly.
