The role of the EHS Specialist is to promote a culture of Environment, Health, and Safety across the organization. The ideal candidate will support daily operations and focus on one or more EHS specializations under the leadership of the EHS Manager.
This includes staying up-to-date with EHS regulations, applying knowledge to projects and daily tasks, and reporting concerns related to authorities concerning Environment, Health, and Safety to the EHS Manager.
The EHS Specialist will lead investigations of incidents, injuries, and complaints; propose corrective actions. They will also evaluate regulatory permitting requirements and submit permit applications.
Additionally, the EHS Specialist will develop compliance training and documentation, conduct EHS training as required, and facilitate toolbox meetings and deliver other EHS training.
The role requires strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint. The ideal candidate should have at least 2-3 years of experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry and relevant EHS certifications.
The EHS Specialist will be responsible for supporting annual site risk assessments and ensuring mitigation actions are implemented. They will also coordinate implementation of systems such as Contractor Safety Management, Work Permits, Construction Safety, and Traffic Management.
Finally, the EHS Specialist will assist in managing emergency preparedness and response, especially for projects.
