Aboriginal Family Violence Support Specialist

The Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-Operative in Geelong VIC is seeking a motivated professional to fill the role of Family Violence Therapeutic Intake Worker.
This position involves providing therapeutic support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults, children, and young people who have experienced family violence. The successful candidate will work closely with the intake team to assess individuals being referred into the program.
About YouWe are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of social, physical, economic, and cultural challenges affecting contemporary Aboriginal communities. A tertiary graduate level qualification in a relevant discipline such as social work, psychology, counselling, or social sciences is essential.
A demonstrated understanding of community-led approaches, community engagement, and Healing for Family and Community Strengthening is also required. Experience working in a service delivery setting within an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation is highly regarded.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have the ability to be flexible in their approach to Family Violence Prevention and Healing for Family and Community Strengthening. Strong reflective practice skills and a commitment to ongoing learning and growth opportunities are essential.
Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to develop positive relationships with diverse individuals at all levels, are necessary for this role. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write and present professional documents to both professional and community audiences, are also required.
