About the Role

As a key member of the Clinical and Health Sciences Academic Unit at the University of South Australia, you will play a critical role in ensuring the technical administration and operations of our teaching laboratories are of the highest standard.

Reporting to the Team Leader: Chemistry, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support to students, academic and technical staff, and external users of the laboratories and spaces.

We are seeking an experienced laboratory professional with a tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge and experience. Your high-level organisational skills and initiative will enable you to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.

You will also possess strong interpersonal skills, allowing you to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at varying professional and academic levels. Your ability to identify risk and provide advice on corrective actions will be invaluable in maintaining a safe working environment.

Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this position is $93,332, based on a classification level commensurate with your experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • To coordinate, operate, and maintain teaching and research laboratories to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
  • To develop and implement quality systems, reports, and documents, as well as participate in continuous business and safety improvement processes.
  • To undertake WHS inspections and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations for corrective action.
  • To provide expert technical support to students, academic and technical staff, and external users of the laboratories and spaces.
