About the Role

As a Laboratory Operations Specialist at the University of South Australia, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our teaching laboratories. You will provide expert technical support to students, academic and technical staff, and external users, maintaining best practices to support the Academic Unit's teaching and research activities.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or extensive knowledge, experience, and technical expertise in coordinating, operating, and maintaining teaching and research laboratories.
  • Demonstrated high-level organisational skills and initiative, including experience in work planning, research, analytical skills, and prioritising to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at varying professional and academic levels from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and risk assessment strategies within a teaching and research laboratory and experience in undertaking WHS inspections and risk assessments, ability to identify risk, and provide advice on corrective actions.
  • High-level written and oral communication skills with knowledge and experience in developing and maintaining quality systems, reports, documents, and participation in continuous business and safety improvement processes.
