We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Officer to join our team at the University of South Australia. As a key member of our Clinical and Health Sciences Academic Unit, you will play a critical role in the technical administration and operations of our teaching laboratories.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide expert technical support to students, academic and technical staff, and external users of our laboratories and spaces. You will be responsible for ensuring best practices are maintained to support our teaching and research activities. Your strong organizational skills and initiative will enable you to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or extensive knowledge, experience and technical expertise in coordinating, operating and maintaining teaching and research laboratories
  • Demonstrated high-level organisational skills and initiative including experience in work planning, research, analytical skills and prioritising to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at varying professional and academic levels, from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and risk assessment strategies within a teaching and research laboratory and experience in undertaking WHS inspections and risk assessments, ability to identify risk and provide advice on corrective actions
  • High-level written and oral communication skills with knowledge and experience in developing and maintaining quality systems, reports, documents and participation in a continuous business and safety improvement processes
