Policy Leadership Specialist

This role is a leadership position within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria. The successful candidate will oversee a team of legal policy officers and drive criminal law policy projects in the Attorney-General's portfolio.
About the TeamThe Criminal Law Policy unit leads policy development and law reform across criminal law issues. We collaborate with key entities across the justice system to ensure policy reform is strategic and relevant.
Key Responsibilities- Oversight of complex policy or law reform projects led by a team of legal policy officers
- Collaboration with senior leaders to drive outcomes and objectives of the department
- Proven experience managing a team in a similar context
- Extensive knowledge of processes for developing policy and legislation within a parliamentary system
- A strong understanding of current criminal law issues and technical expertise in areas such as bail or family violence
