Job Overview:

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology's Data and Digital group is responsible for the ICT systems that support weather, water, climate, ocean and space weather services for Australia. We are seeking a highly skilled Midrange Infrastructure Manager to oversee the lifecycle management of virtual machine clusters, hardware server clusters, backup systems and large scale storage systems.

  • Lead a team to manage the Bureau's ICT infrastructure, including hardware, storage and backup systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing relevant experience and expertise in hands-on lifecycle management of ICT Infrastructure systems, especially with enterprise grade storage, backup and server hardware.
  • Having experience with controlled, multi-location data-centre facilities supporting 24 x 7 mission critical services.
  • Being capable of limited manual handling and lifting of heavy equipment under controlled conditions.
  • Recognising the potential for skill and talent in staff, and having the ability to recruit, coach and enable staff and manage underperformance.
  • Having excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valuing teamwork and diversity, showing interest in and support for peers, and valuing professional collaboration.
  • Having a knowledge of and demonstrating commitment to the APS Values, APS Code of Conduct, and the Bureau's Social Justice Strategy.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in ICT infrastructure management.
  • Ability to work in data-centre conditions.
  • Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call duty rotation.
