Chain of Responsibility Auditor

We are seeking a skilled Chain of Responsibility Auditor to join our team. As a Chain of Responsibility Auditor, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining an internal audit program focused on assessing the compliance of transport providers, distribution centres, and stores with Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility.

This is a 12-month fixed term role that offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of stakeholders and make a significant impact on the company's operations.

About the Role
  • Develop and maintain an audit program aligned with NHVAS and HVNL requirements.
  • Schedule, prioritize, and conduct audits based on risk and compliance history of transport providers, stores, and distribution centers.
  • Prepare clear, evidence-based audit reports identifying non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train and upskill the existing audit team in CoR compliance assurance practices, ensuring consistent understanding and application of NHVR requirements across assurance activities.
  • Complete audits efficiently, on time, and cost-effectively.
  • Adapt to changing business needs and manage multiple engagements.
  • Communicate audit findings clearly, following style and reference guidelines.
  • Provide training on frequent audit findings and compliance expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with third-party transport providers and internal stakeholders to enhance compliance and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with Chain of Responsibility obligations and NHVR regulatory requirement compliance.
  • Exposure to the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme; the relevant audit framework will be viewed favourably.
  • Familiarity with internal control concepts, auditing standards, and risk assessment practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make evidence-based decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused nature, seeking to understand and help teams problem solve.
  • Ability to drive improvements and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional customer mindset with a passion for collaboration.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel nationally and/or to New Zealand, around 1 week per month.
