About the Role:
  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to coordinate, administer, and support projects focused on Indigenous Science initiatives.
  • The successful candidate will provide high-level coordination and project management support across all stages of our national Indigenous Science initiative.
  • This role involves working closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander reference and advisory groups, including logistics, agenda setting, and record-keeping.
  • The ideal candidate will also assist in building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities, Elders, and organisations to support co-designed and Indigenous-led research.

About You:

  • You must have demonstrated experience in project coordination or administrative support, including scheduling, meeting support, and managing competing priorities.
  • A strong understanding of communication and interpersonal skills is essential for this role, particularly when working respectfully and collaboratively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • The position requires a genuine interest in Indigenous knowledge systems, cultural engagement, and Indigenous-led science.
  • You should have experience working in or supporting project governance structures, such as advisory groups or working groups, including organising meetings, preparing materials, and documenting actions or decisions.

Culturally appropriate data practices are crucial in this role. The successful candidate will contribute to developing culturally sensitive data practices by supporting awareness of Indigenous Data Sovereignty and assisting with reviewing data governance frameworks in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
