Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
The Rail Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, integration, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of rail systems to ensure the successful delivery of rail infrastructure projects. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines, while driving efficiency, innovation, and cost-effectiveness.
This role involves developing and implementing track and signalling construction methodology, providing technical guidance on rail design, managing the integration of rail systems with civil, structural, and third-party interfaces, and managing resources to achieve program effectively. You will also be responsible for cost forecasting of rail works and management of R&O, working with key stakeholders to ensure timely communication and coordination of works, and leading and mentoring a team of track and signalling engineers and supervisors.
To succeed in this role, you must be an experienced Rail Systems Specialist with a track record in developing and implementing high-quality solutions for customers. This will include having a tertiary engineering qualification, a high level of experience in rail construction and staging on major infrastructure projects, and demonstrated understanding of rail safety standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
