Health and Safety Specialist

SGS Australia is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join our team in Notting Hill. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will be responsible for providing professional advice and support to multiple business units across various sites.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to ensure a safe working environment.
- Develop and maintain risk management strategies to mitigate potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor and assess health and safety practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and well-being, ensuring all employees are trained and equipped to manage risks effectively.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
- Develop and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety (degree or postgraduate qualification).
- Current qualifications in Training and Assessment.
- Qualifications in incident investigation techniques (ICAM or similar).
- Lead Auditor qualification in either Health and Safety or Quality.
- A sound knowledge of the Australian Work Health and Safety Legal Framework.
- Extensive experience with the development, management, and implementation of a Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001).
- Knowledge and experience in Health and Safety risk management principles and Emergency Management.
- Knowledge and experience in laboratory safety (preferred but not essential).
- Previous experience in a similar position with multi-business activity.
- Intermediate to advanced level of computer skills.
- Current Driving Licence.
