Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Nurse
This role plays a critical part in delivering high-quality patient care, providing expert advice and leadership within defined specialties.
Main responsibilities include:
- Providing case management and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for women from their second trimester until their baby reaches 12 months
- Working autonomously while contributing to a cohesive multidisciplinary team
- Driving best practices in perinatal mental health through education consultation and quality improvement initiatives
About the Role
The specialist will work with the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service to provide specialist mental health support to women with moderate to severe mental health concerns during pregnancy and the first year of their baby's life.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for women experiencing perinatal mental health issues
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and provide crisis intervention as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and transition
Requirements:
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- At least 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience with at least 3 years in the specialty field plus approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field or equivalent experience deemed appropriate
- Australian C-Class driver's license including P1 or P2
