Job Description:

About the Position

This position will be in Sydney, Australia and will lead Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) for the Asia Pacific (‘APAC’) region including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and emerging new markets. This EHS leader will be responsible for developing strategy and leading the implementation of all aspects of the local and global EHS programs according to the jurisdictional requirements within the region and directly support the APAC leadership team.

The Senior Manager EHS will create partnerships with BeiGene leaders and property management representatives at all office locations to assist in identifying workplace safety and health risks and in implementing control measures that align with company initiatives. Additionally, the incumbent will be consulting with colleagues on day-to-day safety operations, emergency response procedures, ergonomics, risk assessments, incident reporting and other EHS programs. They serve as the focal point for Safety Awareness training and messaging (EHS communications), and oversee the safety committee.

The incumbent will be responsible for knowing, interpreting, and appropriately applying all applicable APAC countries, federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and regulations pertaining to workplace safety and other supporting programs. He or she will also partner closely with the following BeiGene departments: EHS (Manufacturing), Workplace Services, Global Security, Commercial, Technical Operations, Legal/Compliance, Human Resources, and Compensation/Benefits.

Interacts with other leaders within all the APAC countries to share best practices and ensure best-in-class EH&S services are delivered regionally and meet local legislative requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

· Develop and administer a proactive Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) management system and overall program.

· Lead the development of tracking, analysis, and assessment of global EHS metrics and advise management about company impacts and improvements.

· Provide expert advice on WHS related matters, emerging issues and impacts to the organisation.

· Oversee the region-wide accident and incident investigation process (excluding manufacturing). Embrace continuous improvement, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

· Play an active and integral role in the Global EHS team.

· Proactively lead the risk management process for the region

· Lead the workers compensation and return to work program.

· Assist in the preparation, completion, and timely submission of related agency regulatory reports.

· Play a key role in emergency response planning and incident response, office and work from home ergonomics, accident report oversight, pandemic planning.

What you bring to the role:

· Previous experience developing and implementation of a strategy for a safety management system across APAC .

· Have inclusive leadership skills to achieve desired results in a highly matrixed work environment, and proven track record of exceeding stakeholder expectations.

· Capable and driven to establish partnerships, strategically lead and manage sensitive safety related investigations. Providing recommendations for resolution, and leading initiatives to mitigate future safety risks.

· Dedicated to the principle of integrity and ethical behaviour.

· Work collaboratively with all stakeholders.

· Be accountable, have sound judgement, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and be directly involved to deliver practical solutions.

Qualification Required:

Qualifications and Experience Required:

· Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have 10+ years EH&S management, both strategic and operational.

· Excellent knowledge and experience in understanding and implementing requirements for WHS legislation, Global Standards, Codes of Practice and guidance for Australia and in at least some of the following APAC countries - New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.

· Experience in developing and implementing a compliant safety management system

· Experience in developing and implementing environmental initiatives highly desirable.

· Demonstrated leadership experience and capabilities.

· Ability to lead and motivate a team, and to manage and train individuals at various skill and organisational levels.

· Strong planning & execution, organisational skills and attention to details.

· This position requires to work in Sydney office, with flexibility for a hybrid working model.

Computer Skills:

· Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel required.
