About the opportunity: Blacktown City is experiencing rapid growth and development. This role sits in Greenspace Services, the Council’s largest business unit, and focuses on increasing the Urban Tree Canopy for the community.

Position: Greenspace Projects Officer (term contract, full-time) for up to 12 months. Based in the Infrastructure team.

Responsibilities

- Overseeing the planting of trees and shrubs within streets, reserves, and other public areas
- Supervising the establishment and maintenance of newly planted trees
- Ensuring best practices are followed for tree planting and establishment programs
- Providing expert advice to the community, staff, and Council in relation to tree planting matters
- Assisting the Coordinator Greenspace Infrastructure with monthly status reports on program performance and budget allocation

Qualifications and experience

- Diploma qualification in project management and horticulture or a similar discipline
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Current class C driver’s licence
- Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment
- WorkCover Approved WHS General Induction for Construction Work in NSW
- Demonstrated experience utilizing Esri's ArcGIS platform

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

- Entry level for this position starts at $1,679.52 per week
- Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
