**About the opportunity**

Blacktown City is experiencing rapid growth and development. With this comes an exciting role in our Greenspace Services Section - Council's largest business unit, to help increase our Urban Tree Canopy for our community.

Are you a professional and experienced horticulturalist with a background in project management, particularly in tree planting projects? Would you like to be part of a team that delivers environmental benefits to the community?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Greenspace Projects Officer to join our Infrastructure team on a term contract, full-time basis for up to 12 months.

This role focuses on managing a range of tree planting projects, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, and providing advice and support to the Coordinator Greenspace Infrastructure.

Key duties include:

- Overseeing the planting of trees and shrubs within streets, reserves, and other public areas
- Supervising the establishment and maintenance of newly planted trees
- Ensuring best practices are followed for tree planting and establishment programs
- Providing expert advice to the community, staff, and Council in relation to tree planting matters
- Assisting the Coordinator Greenspace Infrastructure with monthly status reports on program performance and budget allocation.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**:

- Diploma qualification in project management and horticulture or a similar discipline
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Current class C driver's licence
- Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
- Computer literate
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment
- WorkCover Approved WHS General Induction for Construction Work in NSW.

**Desirable**:

- Diploma qualification in arboriculture
- Demonstrated experience utilizing Esri's ArcGIS platform.

**Remuneration and benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,679.52 per week
- 35-hour working week
- Car allowance
