Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:
This newly created 2-year fixed term position, the Recreation Projects Officer, supports the delivery and effective administration of recreation capital works projects and plays a key role in working with sporting clubs and community groups throughout recreation construction projects.
You will be responsible for:
- The planning and delivery of recreation related capital projects
- Project overview as the Project Sponsor or Service Manager
- Providing high quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
- Design and delivery of community engagement activities
- Production of technical Council reports
- Developing and maintaining contact with State agencies, local governments, sporting clubs and volunteer groups.
This position reports to the Recreation Projects Coordinator.
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:
- Tertiary qualifications in recreation, project management or a related field
- Knowledge and expertise working with community groups and volunteers to deliver sporting and community infrastructure
- Experience in project management, community engagement, communications and experience in local government will be highly valued
- Ability to prepare project briefs for consultancy work and project manage the consultants as required within the approved budgets and timelines
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with a variety of internal and external contacts, including the capacity to deal with and resolve conflict
Mandatory pre-employment requirements:
- Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
- Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check
- Hold a valid Victorian Driver's licence
