Join our Environmental Works and Land Management team as the Environmental Project and Volunteer Officer In this dynamic role, you'll support and grow our Environmental Volunteer Program while leading the delivery of key environment and land management projects across Nillumbik.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and grow environmental volunteer opportunities by establishing citizen science programs and providing a variety of short and long-term avenues for involvement.
- Project and budget management for grant-funded position.
- Facilitate a partnership approach to project delivery and supporting community capacity for land management.
- Coordinating and providing support for environmental volunteers.
- Developing and implementing projects, programs, research, reports, grants, communications, and events that support the objectives of each initiative.
- Influence the implementation of adopted strategic positions and policies of Council.
- Contribute to the effective operation of the Environmental Works and Land Management team.
- Provide professional and timely advice on environmental and land management enquiries.
- Comply with the requirement of all Council policies and procedures.

Requirements:

- A recognised tertiary qualification in environmental science, land management, natural resource management or a related discipline, or relevant experience
- Very strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with counterparts internally and in other organisations, and with community members/ landholders/ volunteers, to discuss specialist matters
- Extensive experience in volunteer management and community engagement for environmental initiatives, including a demonstrated ability to work in partnership with community volunteer committees.
- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental land management principles, including bushland reserve management, invasive species control (weeds and animals), habitat enhancement, and biosecurity approaches
- Data and GIS Proficiency: Strong knowledge and application skills in GIS, spatial data, GPS data capture, and overall data management and document filing
- Ability to manage, plan and organise own work to deliver within agreed timelines, and to have oversight of the work of project partners, to achieve set objectives efficiently within resources and set timetable
- Strong facilitation skills, to support the implementation of the program in a collaborative manner.
