Position Information
Bourke High School, situated in the historic town of Bourke in northwest New South Wales, has a rich legacy deeply rooted in its location on traditional Aboriginal land along the banks of the Darling River. The school has 130 students enrolled from Year 7 to 12, 90% of which identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with Autism (Secondary), Mild Intellectual Disability (Secondary), Moderate Intellectual Disability (Secondary) and emotional disturbance and behaviour difficulties.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Personalised Learning and Support Plans that create differentiated learning experiences, fostering student growth and engagement in an inclusive learning environment with high expectations.
- Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to faculty planning, whole school programs, and develop positive relationships with students, staff and the wider community.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education policies, including the Connected Communities Strategy to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal students.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
