Purpose
The EHS Specialist will be under the leadership of the EHS Manager, supporting daily operations and focusing on one or more EHS specializations. Promote the EHS culture across the organization.
Core Responsibilities
- Support management and staff in internal/external regulatory compliance
- Stay abreast of EHS regulations and actively apply knowledge to projects and daily tasks
- Report to the EHS Manager any concerns related to authorities concerning Environment, Health, and Safety
- Lead investigations of incidents, injuries, and complaints; propose corrective actions
- Evaluate regulatory permitting requirements and submit permit applications
- Develop compliance training and documentation; conduct EHS training as required
- Facilitate toolbox meetings and deliver other EHS training
- Participate in developing EHS procedures and policies; recommend changes and track implementation
- Organize and participate in regular site safety inspections; report findings and ensure corrective actions
- Follow up on actions in the local CAPA register to ensure completion
- Follow up on audit findings; evaluate the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions
- Organize site EHS committee meetings, prepare information, and record minutes
- Assist in risk assessments and provide solutions to minimize risks
- Support annual site risk assessments and ensure mitigation actions
- Coordinate implementation of systems like Contractor Safety Management, Work Permits, Construction Safety, and Traffic Management
- Support EHS aspects of expansion and sustainability projects, including hazard classification
- Assist in managing emergency preparedness and response, especially for projects
Your professional profile includes:
- Educational qualification in the EHS field
- At least 2-3 years of experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry
- Willingness to travel across sites in Smithfield and Norwest
- Relevant EHS certifications
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint
- 8-10 technical competencies relevant to your EHS specialization domain
