City of Brisbane, Australia Woodforde Group Full time

Your Opportunity

Our client, a leading Independent girls school with a proud history and a strong sense of community, is seeking an Administration/Assistant - Student Receptionist to join their team in a permanent, term-time capacity. This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of a vibrant student hub, supporting over 800 students in a role that combines front-of-house responsibilities with student wellbeing support.

Working Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm during term time, you’ll be based in a lively and supportive environment within the Boarding precinct - surrounded by a fun, collaborative team

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy, people-focused environment and enjoys being at the heart of a school community.

Your Role

The Student Receptionist is the first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors, playing a key role in ensuring the smooth running of daily school operations. Working closely with the Principal’s Office, Student Wellbeing team, and Boarding staff, you’ll be responsible for managing student attendance, supporting student wellbeing processes, and handling a range of administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage student rolls, attendance records, and daily sign-in/sign-out processes using Synergetic.
- Follow up on unexplained absences and liaise with parents and staff.
- Provide regular reports on attendance patterns and support students on modified attendance plans.
- Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors with professionalism and care.
- Coordinate attendance and roll changes for school events such as camps, excursions, and carnivals.
- Provide administrative support including filing, document preparation, and academic reporting.
- Assist with communication between the Boarding House and Day School.
- Ensure the reception area is a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, intuitive, and proactive. Someone who can keep their finger on the pulse and isn’t afraid to follow up to ensure processes are accurate and student welfare is prioritised.

- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A professional, approachable, and discreet manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in liaising with students, staff, and parents.
- The ability to remain calm, proactive, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience using systems such as Synergetic, REACH, or similar (training provided).
- A collaborative, team-focused mindset.
- Previous experience in an education or student-facing environment. (desirable)

Hours & Benefits

- Full-time, term time only (Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm, 30-minute unpaid lunch).
- School holidays off
- Salary in line with School Officer Level 4 ($36.98–$38.15 per hour + super).
- Work in a supportive and values-driven school environment.

This is not your typical reception role - it’s fast-paced, student-centred, and vital to ensuring the smooth running of the school day while supporting student wellbeing.

It is a requirement to hold a current Blue Card for Working with Children.

Note: This is a 5 day per week, term-time only position (40 weeks per annum).
