The Regulatory Strategy & Reform team within the City & Environment Directorate is looking for an Assistant Director with excellent strategic thinking and writing skills as well as an ability to problem solve that is second to none. The work is varied, can be fast-paced and will involve working collaboratively with each branch across the agency and key stakeholders across the ACT Public Service. This team is often called on to respond to emerging priorities and strategic issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

- Support the Regulatory Strategy & Reform team by providing strategic thinking, high-quality writing, and rigorous problem solving to address emerging priorities and strategic issues.

- Collaborate across branches within the agency and with key ACT Public Service stakeholders to deliver cohesive regulatory strategy and reform outcomes.

- Contribute to fast-paced workstreams, adapting to changing priorities and timelines as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

- Excellent strategic thinking and writing skills.

- Strong problem-solving ability and proactive issue anticipation.

- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams and stakeholders.

- Experience in regulatory strategy, reform, or related policy areas is preferred.

Notes

Temporary position: available immediately until 01 March 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
