Details: The Program Cordinator Bogs and Fens is responsible for planning, coordination and implementation of the ACT’s Bogs Monitoring and Management Program. This program monitors key values and threats in ACT Bogs and Fens, and uses data generated to implement management actions that are informed by robust science and based on the best available information. The outputs of this role will influence conservation strategies and broader environmental policies and management decisions within the Directorate and Australian Alps ecosystem.
This position is supervised by the Namadgi Area Manager. Responsibilities include coordinating and implementing restoration works and threat management programs, monitoring and assessing bog condition, data collection, collation and analysis, and providing advice back into management. The position has a strong coordination role in ensuring cross functional teams in the Division engaged in management and monitoring act collaboratively for seamless delivery of the program.
Eligibility/Other requirements
Mandatory:
- Tertiary qualifications in ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, or similar fields.
- Knowledge and experience in monitoring and management of bogs and fens.
- A willingness to work independently in the field, outside normal hours, in remote locations, in adverse weather conditions, and travel in helicopters.
- This position wears a uniform.
- This position requires a Driver’s Licence, a First Aid Certificate, and a 4WD Operations and Vehicle Recovery Certificate.
- Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas.
- This position may require a pre-employment medical.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for up to three years.
An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
