The Role
We have an exciting and fast-paced opportunity to join the Infinite Aged Care team in the role of Chef Manager at our Adelaide central Rose Court facility. Reporting directly to the Facility Manager and being a member on the site leadership team, this role is Monday to Friday, full-time permanent to be fully accountable for the day-to-day operations in the kitchen, whilst leading a small team operating all kitchen, catering, events operations whilst aligning to sector & food hygiene standards.
A key success factor of this critical people leadership role will be to build and maintain high trust, respectful and professional relationships with your colleagues and support teams that underpins operational excellence and aligning to our core values here at Infinite Aged Care.
As the Chef Manager, you will find you deeply connected with our residents, actively seeking out feedback to help improve our food and nutritional operations and being an effective communicator on your vision, creativity and wellness attitude with food. Your team are just as passionate to providing high-quality food and beverage service across the dining hall, in-house café, in-room dining refreshments and in-house events. Key Responsibilities
- Be accountable for the daily delivery of 5-star quality meals on time (including room service and cafe), following set menus for our residents in alignment to food preferences and nutritional plans.
- Lead and coach kitchen teams across all facets of workplace safety routines and safety checklists.
- Be part of Infinite's Chef Community and share great food creations, including catering events.
- Manage budgets, procurement, stocktakes & all regular equipment maintenance processes.
- Attend daily management meetings with the other heads of department to action strategic and operational outcomes in a highly collaborative, high trust and supportive leadership style.
- Be open to customer feedback, be respectful, an active listener as our residents love their food
- Align all operational plans and routines to meet external food hygiene audits and regulatory standards - be a positive advocate for workplace safety audits and proactive attitudes.
- Work closely with the Regional Chef support network to learn, improve & delivery best-in-class food outcomes and show willingness to develop new food-related services.
- Partner with community education providers and VET programs to establish regular intakes of commercial cookery students into the kitchen.
This role is a physical role whereby you will do a lot of bending, squatting, lifting and pushing items to carry out your daily tasks safely. It is essential you can perform these tasks without risk of injury to yourself, your colleagues, and our residents.
Who are you?
- Proven experience working in commercial-grade kitchens for a minimum of 5 years.
- Essential to hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher, demonstrating technical experience.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership roles & capabilities over kitchen teams.
- A natural people person who creates a safe, fun and learning culture for all staff to come to work and be their best whilst building up culinary skills and experience with a great mentor.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Ability to listen and desire to continuously develop as a result from feedback provided by residents, their families, and colleagues.
- Positive and approachable leader who can interact with other operational teams e.g., lifestyle and activities that bring the best out of our residents every day.
- Commitment to attend safety-specific training and upskilling sessions paid for by the company.
- Valid Food Safety Supervisors certificate.
- Previous experience in Aged Care, Hospital catering, food catering operations, surf clubs, bowls club workplaces would be ideal.
