About the opportunity

As an alternative medical dispute resolution service under the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 and the Wrongs Act 1958, Medical Panels play an important role in the fair assessment of medical disputes. Specialist staff are employed by WorkSafe to assist in the administration and management of the operations of Medical Panels. At all times in representing Medical Panels, WorkSafe staff are required to maintain an ethical separateness from WorkSafe demonstrated by commitment to the Medical Panels’ purpose, goals and interests.

Reporting to the Registrar, this role is responsible for the provision of efficient and effective administration support to ensure the proper functioning of Medical Panels. Key accountabilities include;

- Generate relevant, accurate and timely documentation/information to Panel Members, Workers, Referrers and Legal Representatives including, but not limited to, registration of referrals, appointment letters, schedule updates and the generation of standard and non-standard letters.
- Ensure data entry guidelines are met and alert the Senior Administration Officer to any irregularities and propose action for resolution.
- Attend a broad range of enquiries from stakeholders including workers/claimants, Courts, legal representatives, medical practitioners and allied health professionals ensuring that more complex enquiries are referred to the most appropriate officer

- Prior experience within a Worker’s Compensation, Personal Injury Insurance or Medical environment highly regarded, but not essential
- Practiced client service experience and commitment to the provision of quality customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Effective time management and organisational skills including ability to prioritise potentially conflicting activities to achieve the required business outcomes.
- Strong computer skills with demonstrated ability to operate and maintain computerised office systems including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Zoom, Skype for Business, Lotus Notes & Adobe.
- Proven ability to work in a highly productive operational team and utilising process databases to progress work
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
