About the role:

This is a Part-time 12 month Fixed-Term positionfrom date of commencement.

The Administrative Officer works within a small team providing secretariat, governance and legal support to the Patient Review Panel, and is responsible for processing and managing highly confidential applications for further storage of embryos and gametes. The role includes reviewing a high volume of applications, data entry, liaising with IVF clinics and applicants, applying legislative requirements, making recommendations, processing decisions and advising applicants and clinics of outcomes.

About you:

The Department of Health is seeking a motivated and capable Administrative Officer to support operational and administrative functions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role requires a highly organised individual with excellent communication skills and a strong ability to manage competing priorities.

As an Administrative Officer, you will prepare clear and accurate emails, reports, and other written communications tailored to your audience and purpose. You will demonstrate strong planning and organisational abilities, ensuring that tasks are prioritised effectively, deadlines are met, and systems and procedures are implemented to monitor progress and outcomes.

Success in this role will require a high level of self-management. You will be expected to plan your workload, use your strengths effectively, and proactively manage challenges. You will think critically before responding to tasks or issues, anticipating and preparing for potential difficulties to deliver consistent, high-quality work.

The position also demands advanced computer literacy, including confident use of word processing and spreadsheet applications. You will support others in resolving issues with these tools and contribute to improving efficiency through the effective use of technology.

Problem-solving is central to this role. You will be expected to gather and assess information from a range of sources, engage with stakeholders, and consider issues from multiple perspectives before making decisions. You will provide practical and well-reasoned solutions to support the Department's objectives.

- Experience in accurately managing and processing a high volume of data would be desirable.
