Position Information

Bathurst West Public School is one of the largest primary schools in the growing regional city of Bathurst. Our school boasts well-resourced, attractive teaching and learning spaces, and large open playing areas. Our growing and diverse enrolment of 516 students is inclusive of 121 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, 7 Special Education Classes and an Opportunity Class.

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience in teaching students with Autism, Mild Intellectual Disability and complex needs including behaviour and emotional support and mental health.
2. Ability to differentiate the curriculum and deliver personalised learning and support plans and programs that respond to the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
3. Demonstrated successful classroom management with flexible and adaptive strategies that create a positive learning environment, including the use of early intervention techniques to identify and de-escalate challenging behaviours before they escalate.
4. Highly developed collaboration skills with teaching and support staff, along with a willingness to contribute actively to whole-school initiatives, roles, and responsibilities.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
