**Position Information**:
Glenvale School is a special school located on the Central Coast of New South Wales and is spread over 3 sites of very different, but lovely natural environments. The larger campus of 17 classes is at Narara, a satellite class for primary aged students is within Valley View Public School and 8 classes are located at The Entrance North campus, there is a total of 143 students, including 17 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The school caters for students from 4 years of age through to the end of the year in which they turn 18 (usually Year 12) in small classes with a special education teacher and school learning support officer. Glenvale provides individual education programs for students with a wide variety of disabilities. Most students have a moderate or severe intellectual disability and many have multiple disabilities. Staff are highly skilled in teaching students with all disabilities and the school is a centre of expertise in the teaching of students with autism. Glenvale is also supported by the Valley Schools Aboriginal Network which provides cultural activities and support for our students of Aboriginal background.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Approval to teach Special Education and/ or experience in providing high level educational leadership, with demonstrated capacity to teach and lead quality teaching and learning in a complex special education environment.

2. Demonstrated capacity to lead educational change and implement research and evidence informed practice for students with complex needs in whole school teaching and learning programs.

3. High level communication and outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and sustain strong positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the broader school community.

4. Exceptional curriculum and assessment knowledge with demonstrated ability to support whole school planning, working collaboratively to facilitate innovation and change.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies**Conditions**:
