Position Information

North Gosford Learning Centre (NGLC) is a school for specific purposes catering for 63 students, in 9 classes, with a variety of different learning needs and styles, including 21% Aboriginality. Students attending the school are placed through a regional placement panel after being identified by their mainstream school. Students attending NGLC come from areas throughout the Central Coast and travel to school through a variety of modes of transportation.

The school uses a trauma informed approach to ensure all students feel they belong in the school environment. NGLC offers a program and routine to support engagement, learning and capacity building. All students are provided with opportunities to develop skills necessary to identify and regulate their emotions.

As leaders in our school community it is important we support the needs of partner schools in the area of trauma informed practice. We are focused on supporting schools to utilise the skills and practices developed in our community ensuring all students are able to successfully transition from NGLC. Our primary goal is to enable our students to become positive active members of their local community.

Selection Criteria

- Approved to teach as a generalist. Approved to teach students with behavioural difficulties and Mental health or experience teaching students with behavioural difficulties and mental health issues.

- Ability to work with all stakeholders to ensure effective communication to support the individualised learning goals of all students.

- Demonstrated capacity to ensure effective classroom practice and promote positive engagement through creative programming of teaching and learning activities.

- Ability to provide an individualised learning program developing students' capability in Numeracy, Literacy and Social Emotional Learning through the use of data driven and trauma informed practices.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
