About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Governance, you will lead a team dedicated to ensuring Council operates to the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and compliance. This role is pivotal in delivering Council's statutory obligations, risk frameworks, and internal audit programs, as well as driving continuous improvement across key business functions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing and enhancing Council's governance framework, ensuring legislative compliance and effective policy management.
- Leading the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, including risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and business continuity planning.
- Managing internal audit functions and providing strategic advice to the Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee.
- Driving Work Health & Safety initiatives to ensure a safe, compliant workplace.
- Leading Council's procurement operations, ensuring strategic, efficient, and value-driven outcomes.
- Advising the Executive Leadership Team on governance, risk, and compliance matters to support strategic decision-making.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Risk Management, Governance, or Public Policy (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
- Extensive experience in governance, risk, and compliance within a complex organisation (Local Government experience advantageous).
- Strong capability in implementing Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks and managing audit processes.
- Proven leadership, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop policies, reports, and recommendations with clarity and precision.
