We are seeking an Analyst - Software, Data & AI Solutions on a full-time, permanent basis

We are looking for:

About Us

Finity is the market-leading actuarial consulting and strategic analytics firm in Australia and New Zealand. We are proud to be the only actuarial consulting firm to have been recognised by ANZIIF as the Insurance Industry’s Professional Services Firm of the Year, with six awards in the past decade, most recently in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

We combine deep industry expertise with a unique breadth of technological capability to deliver innovative and practical advice and solutions to a broad base of over 450 clients. Alongside our more traditional offering of strategic advisory services, software products and solutions are now a core part of what we do. Over a quarter of our clients are currently using one or more of Finity’s 16 cutting-edge software products.

At Finity, you’ll be part of a collaborative, cross‑functional team working alongside actuaries, data scientists, engineers and software developers. Our products include rating engines, underwriting platforms, geospatial tools, climate risk models, and other API‑driven solutions—designed to help our clients make faster and better‑informed business decisions.

The Role

We are looking for a curious and motivated Analyst to join our Software, Data & AI Solutions team, based in Sydney or Melbourne. In this role, you will support the design and delivery of web, API, and AI‑enabled solutions for insurance‑specific tools and services. You’ll work closely with experienced consultants, product leaders, and AI specialists, gaining hands‑on exposure to real projects and developing your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to further your career at the intersection of technology, data, and consulting.

Key Responsibilities

- Help prepare clear, simple materials that explain technical solutions to non‑technical stakeholders.

- Assist in preparing proposals, presentations, and project documentation.

Solution Design & Delivery

- Contribute to translating business requirements into technical specifications.

- Assist in developing and testing software, data, and AI‑enabled solutions alongside technical experts.

- Take ownership of smaller technical tasks, ensuring they meet agreed quality standards.

Collaboration & Teamwork

- Work with cross‑functional teams of consultants, engineers, and analysts.

- Learn from and contribute to knowledge‑sharing sessions on software, data, and AI applications.

- Collaborate with peers and provide support where possible.

Growth & Learning

- Stay curious about new technologies, tools, and methods in software, data, and AI.

- Build skills through structured learning, certifications, and mentoring.

- Contribute to internal initiatives and innovation projects as you grow in confidence and capability.

Essential Skills & Attributes

- Education / Background: Degree in computer science, data science, actuarial studies, engineering, mathematics, or related discipline.

- Programming Skills: Exposure to programming (e.g., Python, SQL, or similar). Academic, project, or internship experience is welcome.

- Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex problems and contribute to logical solutions.

- Curiosity & Learning Mindset: Eagerness to build skills in software development, data science, and AI.

- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and learn from others.

- Communication: Comfortable explaining technical ideas simply, both verbally and in writing.

- Bonus (nice‑to‑have, not required): Familiarity with APIs, databases, or machine learning concepts (through study, projects, or internships).

Why join us?

- Work with Industry Leaders: Collaborate directly with the Heads of Product & Solutions and Heads of AI.

- Diverse Projects: Contribute to the development and delivery of 16 innovative data, automation, and insights products.

- Cross‑Functional Team: Be part of a collaborative and dynamic team of actuaries, data scientists, and software engineers.

- Impactful Work: Help shape the future of SaaS solutions for Finity’s 120+ clients that licence these solutions.

- Professional Growth: Join a company that values continuous learning and career development.
