Council of the City of Sydney, Australia Brighte Full time

About Brighte

Our mission is to make consumer energy resources (CER) affordable and accessible for everyone.

Brighte is building the platform to enable and accelerate the energy transition by making it affordable, easy and less risky to buy and sell energy equipment.

Our founder and CEO, Katherine McConnell, has been awarded Telstra Businesswoman of the year in 2020 as well as winning the Sustainability Crusader award at B&T's 2023 Women Leading Tech Awards. She is a passionate and humble leader who has a human first approach to business.

As a business in 2025, we have been named a AFR Sustainability Leader within the Banking and Finance category and won the inaugural Sustainability Award at the Affies in 2024

About the Role

Brighte is scaling fast and AI is at the core of our transformation.

We’re looking for a strategic, data-driven Technical Business Analyst who thrives at the intersection of AI, automation, and software engineering. You’ll identify high-impact opportunities, shape them into actionable plans, and lead the delivery of AI solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.

This isn’t about building models from scratch, it’s about implementing and optimising enterprise AI tools (like Microsoft Copilot) to supercharge decision-making, streamline operations, and create customer value.

You’ll work cross-functionally with Data, Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams, helping Brighte make Consumer Energy Resources more accessible for all Australians.

What You'll Do

- Deeply understand Brighte’s business model, processes, and data landscape to uncover high-value AI opportunities and work to identify, assess, and roadmap AI use cases with measurable outcomes.
- Balance commercial value, operational efficiency, and technical feasibility to build compelling cases for AI investment.
- Lead Brighte’s AI implementation strategy, with a strong focus on data readiness, compliance, and governance while overseeing end-to-end execution of AI and automation projects - on time, on budget, and aligned with business goals.
- Partner with Commercial, Data, Engineering, and Tech teams, as well as external vendors, to integrate tools like Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio while working closely with Engineering to embed AI into Brighte’s core processes.
- Assess AI models and own ongoing QA to ensure performance and reliability while ensuring all AI adoption meets data security, privacy, and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with the CFO, Data team, and functional leaders to align initiatives with Brighte’s strategic AI roadmap.
- Run workshops and discussions to prioritise AI opportunities across business units.
- Evaluate performance of implemented tools and identify optimisation opportunities.
- Stay ahead of emerging AI trends and foster a culture of data literacy and AI curiosity across Brighte.

What You'll Bring

- 3+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role within a commercial or financial services environment.
- You bring proven experience leading or supporting AI and automation implementation projects - integrating existing tools into business processes to deliver measurable value.
- Strong experience with data analysis and interpretation, using tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI, or Tableau.
- You have a solid understanding of AI/ML concepts and platforms, with the ability to evaluate use cases and collaborate with technical teams (no model-building required).
- You bring strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess opportunities based on business impact, cost, and feasibility.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of influencing across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with enterprise automation solutions (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, Zapier, UiPath, or equivalent) is highly advantageous
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and responsible AI principles.
- A self-starter with a genuine passion for AI, data, and operational improvement, eager to turn technology into tangible outcomes.
