About Our Team

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

The CAMH Crisis Connect (CCC) is a specialised state‑wide service providing rapid assessment, consultation, and intervention for children and young people experiencing acute mental health crises. We also offer support and guidance to families, carers, and professionals across the community.

Our multi‑disciplinary team delivers care through a range of responsive models, including:

- Specialist urgent tele‑mental health support

- Crisis management and intervention

- Mental health and risk assessments conducted face‑to‑face at Perth Children’s Hospital Emergency Department or via telehealth

- Follow‑up within 24 hours of assessment or discharge from PCH

About the Role

As a Senior Mental Health Professional, you’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to provide complex patient care to children, adolescents and their families. This includes assessments, crisis intervention, treatment and referral. You will also participate in ongoing evaluation of clinical practice, quality and management programs and quality improvement activities for the CCC model of care.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver advanced and complex patient care in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

- Provide crisis intervention, treatment, and referral for individuals, families, and the wider community

- Participate actively in interdisciplinary case conferences and clinical team meetings

- Offer education, training, and support to internal and external stakeholders regarding mental health care

- Build and maintain strong links with community agencies

- Contribute to service planning, quality improvement initiatives, and data analysis to ensure services remain responsive to community needs

- Staff development and educational initiatives in collaboration with senior staff

- Promote equitable access to high‑quality specialist mental health services

- Provide clinical supervision to other mental health clinicians

- Participate in research, evaluation, and the development of educational programs for stakeholders

Essential Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in clinical psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or nursing, with eligibility for registration with the relevant professional board.

• For social workers, eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers is required.

• For clinical psychologists, eligibility for full registration and endorsement in Clinical Psychology with the Psychology Board of Australia is essential.

About our CAMHS Directorates

- Community CAMHS – offers mental health assessment and multidisciplinary intervention for children and young people up to the age of 18 years.

- Specialist Services and Day Programs – consists of Complex Attention and Hyperactivity Disorder Service, Multisystemic Therapy, Pathways and Touchstone. These programs support children and young people who have complex mental health needs.

- Acute CAMHS, based at Perth Children’s Hospital, has a mental health inpatient unit (Ward 5A), Paediatric Psychiatric In‑Reach Team (PPIRT), Eating Disorder Service and Gender Diversity Service.
