About The Organisation

AMSANT is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in the Northern Territory and advocates for equity in health, focusing on supporting the provision of high quality comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal communities.

AMSANT Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) programs are incorporated into the work of the SEWB team and includes support for services focused on culturally responsive trauma informed practice, suicide prevention and post-vention, workforce development, research and policy.

- Salary packaging up to $15,899.94 pa.

The filling of the SEWB Clinical Supervisor and Facilitator position is intended to constitute a special/equal opportunity measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and s 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT). The SEWB Clinical Supervisor and Facilitator position is therefore only open to Aboriginal applicants.

Role Description

This position enhances the capacity and responsiveness of workforces in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) and related health services by offering practice support, supervision and mentoring. It also coordinates and facilitates training and supports professional development needs.

Responsibilities

- Provide clinical supervision and guidance for SEWB, mental health & AOD workers, particularly those working in remote communities.
- Maintain strong partnerships with ACCHSs and key stakeholders to improve access to SEWB training (in person & online).
- Support development & refinement of training resources, tools, workshops and reports.
- Deliver SEWB training and organisational change programs using trauma-informed approaches and provide mentoring to ACCHS staff.
- Stay up to date with SEWB content through self-directed learning, research and professional development.
- Advise ACCHSs, staff and stakeholders on policies, evidence and best practices in SEWB, mental health & AOD.
- Work collaboratively & support the Workforce Development Coordinator with preparation of the annual NT SEWB Forum, Workforce Networking meetings and other strategic events.
- Support SEWB & AOD projects, including research, evaluation and sector engagement.
- Contribute to team activities including reflective practice, administrative tasks, and communication.
- Perform other duties as directed by the SEWB Manager or Workforce Development Coordinator.

Selection Requirements (Qualifications & Attributes)

ESSENTIAL

- Tertiary qualifications and experience as a Mental health professional (e.g. Aboriginal Health Practitioner, Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse), registered with relevant Board/AHPRA.
- Clinical and supervisory experience, proven experience with delivering psychological therapies and providing supervision to other practitioners.
- Demonstrate experience in mental health and AOD policy development, implementation and writing.
- High-level knowledge of evidence-based, culturally safe approaches to mental health, SEWB and AOD issues affecting Aboriginal communities.
- Understanding of trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices, particularly within remote Aboriginal PHC settings.
- In-depth understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, the impact of colonisation and its ongoing effects on health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
- Awareness of the role and significance of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
- Strong ability to communicate and engage effectively with elders, community members, health professionals, and service managers.
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Current drivers licence and willingness to travel to remote communities as required.

DESIRABLE

- Experience in providing SEWB, mental health and AOD services to Aboriginal people in a remote PHC setting.
- Understanding and/or experience in working in Aboriginal Primary Health care.
- Understanding and/or experience in working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.
