Primary objective

To lead and provide quality case management, critical analysis and advice for a range of complex, multi sectoral, multi-faceted

investment leads and projects to grow trade and attract investment into the Northern Territory.

Context statement

The Trade and Investment Opportunities Division works in partnership with teams across the department, government, and

industry to develop, implement and advocate for strategic economic, industry growth and reform strategies. This work drives an

ambitious investment and trade development program, promoting and bolstered by bold advocacy for the Territory.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide quality project and case management services, high level strategic advice, information and project management support

to the Director, Executive Director and Executive Leadership Team on matters relating to project initiatives including research

and analysis, commercial assessment and establishing and maintaining reporting schedules.

  1. Work in partnership with teams across the department, government, industry and major national and international stakeholders

to identify, develop and implement investable opportunities, including associated value propositions aimed at high value

investors.

  1. Develop and maintain effective stakeholder engagement frameworks, including consultation and communication strategies to

support project development and execution.

  1. Build and leverage professional networks across key influencers, decision-makers, industry and Government to effectively

progress leads and projects key to achieving the primary objective.

  1. Research and prepare high level reports, implementation plans, briefings and correspondence including but not limited to

departmental, Ministerial and Cabinet.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. High level knowledge of project management frameworks, methodologies, tools and processes relevant to the development

and facilitation of complex investment leads and projects.

2. High level ability to provide market intelligence and specialist strategic advice to inform policy development and conceptual

planning and research skills in a multi-disciplinary environment, including demonstrated experience of commercial due diligence

and/or engagement and project facilitation.

  1. High level ability to critically analyse issues, problem solve and clearly articulate complex concepts and solutions to support

informed decision-making to ensure delivery of outcomes.

  1. Well-developed ability to manage a high workload with constantly changing priorities; work independently under limited

direction and coordinate a range of priorities to meet critical timelines and required outcomes.

  1. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and negotiation skills, and an ability to interact effectively with people from diverse

cultures to build and maintain effective networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualification in project management, public policy, commerce, finance, or other relevant disciplines, including industry

specific knowledge.

2. Sound knowledge and/or experience of the trade, investment and geopolitical environment.
