Nathan River Resources is the proud owner and operator of the Roper Bar Iron Ore Mine, located 50km inland from the Gulf of Carpentaria and approximately 760km from Darwin. With our dedicated in-house mine, marine, and trans-shipment divisions, we manage a fleet of assets supporting long-term operations.

Following the success of our initial 2023 operational kick-off, we are entering Phase 2 expansion and seeking an experienced Training & Assessment Supervisor to join our team.



Training & Assessment Supervisor – Mining

Nathan River Resources is expanding operations at the Roper Bar Iron Ore Mine and we are seeking an experienced Training & Assessment Supervisor to take a lead role in developing a safe, skilled and high-performing workforce.

This is a hands-on site role where your operational know-how and passion for training will directly impact the capability and success of our team.

The Opportunity

As Training & Assessment Supervisor, you will deliver high-impact, field-based training and assessment across our mining operations. Your role will ensure operators are competent, confident, and aligned to Nathan River's safety and production standards. You will be instrumental in onboarding green operators, mentoring them through to full competency, and maintaining robust site training systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver competency-based training and assessment across our heavy mining fleet, including Moxy haul trucks, loaders, dozers, graders, and 70T & 90T excavators
  • Facilitate onboarding and progressive development of new operators into safe, high-performing team members
  • Train and assess MC Road Train operators to site and compliance requirements
  • Manage and maintain training records, systems, and competency matrices
  • Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and support initiatives to enhance learning and development on site
  • Lead by example in operational and safety excellence, consistently demonstrating best practice in the field

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE) – essential
  • Significant hands-on experience operating and training with heavy mining equipment
  • Previous experience delivering competency-based training in a mining environment (iron ore highly regarded)
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental protocols in mining operations
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills, supporting operators of all levels
  • A proactive, organised approach and a genuine passion for building workforce capability
