Media & Communications Manager

- Ongoing full-time opportunity available

- Salary: $149,739 to $173,174 + super, based on experience

We’re seeking a media and communications expert skilled in leading teams, managing media and reputational issues for a high-profile organisation, and delivering strategic campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences. The role

- Manage and coordinate responses to a breadth of media enquiries across the portfolio

- Lead the delivery of communications and media initiatives that support the rollout of planning policy, infrastructure, and housing programs across NSW.

- Lead go-to market campaigns across a variety of channels

- Shape how the Department engages with the public, media, and stakeholders through compelling storytelling, proactive media advice, and integrated campaign delivery.

- Manage messaging across digital platforms, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with government priorities.

- Navigate sensitive issues and tight deadlines with confidence.

- Provide stakeholders with trusted leadership and strategic direction, in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate:

- Ability to craft clear, compelling narratives across traditional and digital channels—including EDMs, social media, and web.

- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience advising senior executives and working closely with Ministerial offices.

- Confidence in managing media enquiries and engaging with journalists under tight deadlines.

- Skill at balancing competing priorities while leading high-performing teams

- A strategic mindset with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver high-impact communications in a fast-paced environment.

- Collaborative leadership style that supports team development and drives continuous improvement.

Essential requirements:

- Willingness and ability to be on call, as required, outside of normal working hours.

- Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, journalism, or related discipline and/or relevant extensive experience.
