Junior Product Owner
The Junior Product Owner is a key role at Antero where we build SaaS products and support bespoke software for our clients. In this role you will sit between a technology team and our non technical business clients and be able to recommend and plan solutions while, more importantly, you explain the ‘so what’ for our clients ensuring quality in our finished product.
The ability to put yourself in our customers’ shoes and understand what’s going on in their business is critical and what we believe is the core to a successful relationship.
You will be expected to apply your range of talents wherever necessary across the following areas:
- assisting the company in the running of Agile digital projects – including but not limited to JIRA management, client calls, meetings, and taking briefs, reviewing features, finding bugs and preparing releases
- answering client support calls and solving their (Tier 1) problems either with advice or by creating a task for a (Tier 2) developer to work through
- working closely with our senior product team and other delivery personnel, monitoring and setting goals for developers in line with our schedule (aka traffic management)
- assisting with scoping of projects based off provided requirements documents for handover to developers
- articulating needs and outcomes to developers but also UX/UI designers to support our bespoke web applications
- configuring and running JIRA boards for developers
- taking accountability for QA and approving developer work through dev, UAT and prod environments
- remain two steps ahead at all times when it comes to anticipating client requirements that you’ve been exposed to in meetings / phone calls
- being on hand to assist any other areas of the business as might be required
Optionally you might have:
- experience with cloud service providers (eg. AWS) and Docker
- a genuine interest in all things Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Design Thinking, Lean Startup, but most importantly incremental change over a long period of time
What else can I expect from this role?
You will most likely have progressed from a Support Desk Leader, BA, QA or Developer role and are looking to move closer to the client with a solid understanding of business and technology. You’ll use this experience to recommend and explain solutions to our customers and own the end-to-end delivery of that work through the dev team.
How do I know if I qualify for this role?
Capability in this role will be measured via the below activities:
- a demonstration of involvement leading software delivery from development to release
- you will be asked to demonstrate problem solving a web application to extract and specify issues based on a bug report
- you will review a simple JIRA project board and complete a planning exercise by grouping items in to three epics for a release schedule
- QA a number of tickets from a JIRA project providing guidance on completeness, area for improvement and final signoff if/where appropriate
We are constantly looking to find new and better ways of working. Having ideas and experiences of both good and bad delivery methods are great talking points during our discussions. As you can imagine, we want to hear solutions, not just problems.
Salary: Annual base salary excluding Superannuation between $75,000 to $85,000
This is a full time permanent position
A little about us

- you’ll be surrounded by a team of highly capable technologists with ample opportunity for on the job training
If this sounds like your kind of place the next steps for you to follow are:
- if we see a possible alignment, within a few days we will contact you to organise a quick 15-minute call to assess cultural fit
- following the culture fit, you’ll receive a tech test which helps us to better understand your skill level and where you’ll fit in the team
- for those who successfully complete the tech test you will receive an interview where we can discuss your results and where you might fit within our team
