The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Council’s in NSW with the most culturally, socially and economically diverse communities in Sydney. We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.

The Role

We’re looking for an Architectural Project Manager that will manage the concept design of key masterplans, building and facility projects. They will balance risk, program, cost and design integrity and will work closely with consultant teams, building relationships and ensuring the best outcome for each project. The role will have a strong focus on community engagement and communication as well as meeting legislative and governance requirements.

The Architectural Project Manager will work with Council's Asset teams for the delivery of building works and provide architecture and design quality advice for Council as required.

*The opportunity will be offered on a Temporary full-time basis – up to October 2027.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

- Inspire others to value design excellence, place making and liveability;

- Undertake needs analysis, prepare internal project briefs defining quality, scope, budget and program for each project;

- Coordinate masterplans for public places and buildings;

- Project manage the concept design and development of key building and infrastructure projects identified by Council;

- Prepare expression of interests, quotations and tenders;

- Overview design quality during the construction phase;

- Establish mechanisms for effective liaison with Council’s Operations Department for the delivery of capital works projects;

- Develop, implement and monitor project plans, cost plans, work breakdown structures and Gantt charts for each project;

You will have

- Tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Project Management, Engineering or other relevant discipline

- Current WorkCover Construction OHS Induction (White Card).

- Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in Project Management

- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills

- Extensive demonstrated experience in project managing the design of complex capital works/building projects to improve the built environment

- Adept at managing project budgets, project plans, cost plans, work breakdown structures and Gantt charts for each project

- Demonstrated capital works project management experience ranging from engaging consultants, writing project briefs, project conception through to site investigation, brief preparation, design development , supervision of consultants

- The ability to coordinate a number of complex projects concurrently

- Understanding of construction issues, terminology, materials and methods

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $115,347 (Grade I, Step 1) + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
