Member and Donor Relations Officer
GetUp is looking for Member and Donor Relations Officers with strong communication skills to interact with members and donors, managing both inbound and outbound communications.
SCHADS classification Level 1.2 ($33.93p/h) + superannuation. This is a casual role ideally based in Sydney or Melbourne, but with an openness to great candidates located anywhere in Australia.
At GetUp, we know our capacity to drive progressive change is increased when our team has a diversity of backgrounds and experience. We are actively looking for applicants from a diverse range of genders, cultures, language groups, abilities, and experiences to apply.
WHO IS GETUP
GetUp is an independent campaigning community and movement of more than one million everyday people working to build a progressive Australia and put people back into politics.
GetUp works on a range of campaigns in the areas of First Nations Justice, Climate Justice, Economic Fairness, Human Rights and Democratic Integrity. Whatever we do - from making sure hundreds of thousands of people are able to vote, to successfully stopping major projects threatening the environment, or securing billions of dollars in new funding for mental health – we do it with as many people as possible – using their hands, hearts, and voices to fight for justice on the issues that matter most.
GetUp is currently several months into a significant rebuild following the last Federal Election. In the last few months, GetUp has been engaging more people in its campaigns and raising more money from its supporters than at any other point in the last few years, on a range of important issues from Freedom of Information to climate to gambling ads to Gaza. Hiring for a number of new roles – including this one – is a key part of that rebuild, and ensuring that GetUp is well placed to have very significant impact in the years ahead.
THE MEMBER RELATIONS TEAM
GetUp’s Member Relations Team supports the organisation’s work running campaigns that help create a more progressive Australia. The team pride itself on forging lasting relationships with members as well as the ability to seize crucial moments when taking immediate action can make a real difference. We recognise that affected communities are at the heart of our work and we are always looking for ways to apply a strong rights and social justice lens to our fundraising. The Member Relations Team provides support and care to our members, and runs fundraising campaigns to ensure GetUp can continue to scale up our work and have a greater impact on issues that our members care about.
As a Regular Donor Caller, you’ll be closely supported by your manager and undertake routine activities which require the practical application of basic fundraising skills and techniques. You will be responsible for contacting supporters and members to update them on our current campaigns and to raise much needed funds by securing new recurring donations and upgrading the monthly contributions of existing members.
This work takes place primarily in the afternoons and evenings, and is perfect for students and those looking to make a significant and positive impact raising funds for justice and social change. On the job training will be provided, including familiarisation with GetUp’s fundraising goals, database systems, and wider organisational mission.
