Position Description

We are seeking a Chef to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

Designing menus and daily specials, determining food and labour requirements, and coordinating ordering with suppliers.

Overseeing the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals to ensure consistent standards of quality and portioning.

Supervising and training kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking methods, safe food handling, and hygiene compliance.

Working with management and service staff on menu planning, dietary needs, and customer feedback.

Ensuring all kitchen operations comply with workplace health, safety, and hygiene requirements.

Applying advanced cooking techniques and advising staff on efficient preparation and service procedures.

Managing stock levels, storage, and preservation of food, including safe freezing and maintenance practices.

Assisting with rostering and labour planning to support productivity and cost control.

Skills and Experience

Applicants must have:

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification) or at least three years of relevant professional experience.

Demonstrated experience as a chef in a café, restaurant, or catering environment.

Strong technical knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu development.

Proven ability to supervise and train staff in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Sound knowledge of food safety legislation and workplace hygiene standards.

Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.

Salary

$76,760 per annum plus superannuation
