We are seeking Clinical Nurse Specialists -Medicare Mental Health Phone Service (530941d). This position is also being advertised asAllied Health Professionals (530941) and the positions will be filled on merit.Please note this position is eligible for a Multi-Disciplinary Allowance.

The Role:
- Provide advice and information to callers of the Medicare Mental Health Phone Service (previously known as Head to Health), including consumers, carers and health professionals, about mental health and alcohol and other drugs (AOD) services and supports.
- Complete mental health assessments over the phone using the Initial Assessment and Referral Decision Support Tool (IAR-DST) and refer individuals to appropriate services according to their identified level of care.
- Provide leadership, secondary consultation, case review and assistance to other clinical and non-clinical team members.
You will need:
- Ability to build rapport to manage sensitive and difficult situations in an empathetic manner.
- Demonstrated capability to establish and maintain relationships and partnerships to improve outcomes for clients, carers, and internal and external stakeholders.

Details of appointment:
2 fixed term full time, day worker positions, working up to 76hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:$106,570 - $112,440per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance withNurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that lead to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
