The Team:
Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital, and the Rheumatology Unit within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all rheumatology services in Tasmania. The Rheumatology Unit is founded upon strong teamwork and multi-disciplinary principles, incorporating medical, specialty nursing and allied health roles. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC)- Rheumatology provides clinical leadership and direction to improve the quality and continuity of care and support provided to clients diagnosed with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.
This role is a pivotal contact point for continuity of care for people diagnosed with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. The position provides advanced authoritative clinical expertise and is an integral part of the interdisciplinary Rheumatology team.
The CNC - Rheumatology works in liaison with Lead Clinicians and the Assistant Director of Nursing – Acute Medical Services to provide:
- Provide advice, appropriate clinical interventions, case management and consumer advocacy according to the specific and changing needs of individuals with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.
- Provide a significant degree of autonomy and independent decision making within the service.
- Provide advice to support patient care specific to Rheumatology
- Developed pathway protocols and guidelines in relation to gastroenterology related care consistent with best practice.
You will need:
- Extensive experience as a Registered Nurse with demonstrated advanced clinical competence in rheumatic and musculoskeletal disease nursing with awareness and understanding that ensures optimal patient care/outcomes across the health continuum.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, mediation and conflict resolution skills and a proven ability to educate, influence and be credible to a range of health professionals and consumers.
- Well-developed leadership skills with the ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team and to consult, refer, liaise, and negotiate on complex professional, clinical service and health system issues.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 40 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $114,851to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance withNurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Relevant post graduate qualifications or willingness to complete a relevant post graduate certificate in Rheumatological nursing.
