Clinical Nurse Specialist - Neonatal Intensive Care

Currently we are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. This is a Permanent Full‑Time appointment.

Job Description

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is responsible for supporting the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in supervising the delivery of quality patient care, developing standards of practice, implementing changes to clinical practice and initiating research and quality improvement activities; and the provision of a consultation service within their area of expertise assigned to staff and parents of inpatients alike.

The CNS role involves advanced expertise in neonatal knowledge and practice. The CNS is expected to observe, conceptualize, diagnose, and analyse complex clinical or nonclinical problems related to neonates and to promote applicable evidence‑based solutions to ensure best outcomes. Responsibilities include clinical practice, education, research, and consultation.

As a senior nurse, the CNS is responsible for contributing to professional/clinical practice standards and initiatives to support the NUM and Clinical Educators. This position has professional accountability to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783‑bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose‑built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
