Do you want to lead the engineering effort that unifies a suite of products to protect millions of children online?
At Qoria, we have a simple but profound purpose: to keep every child safe and thriving in their digital life. We build the technology that over 32,000 schools and 8 million parents use to protect more than 27 million children from online risks. This isn't just another leadership role; it's a mission to build the very foundation of our future.
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to take a hands-on leadership role in our QOR Apps business unit, driving the unification of our entire product suite. You will lead the team building the core platform services that empower all other product teams to deliver a seamless, integrated experience for our customers.
What’s the opportunity?
This is a high-impact leadership role where you will be central to delivering Qoria’s core strategic objective: creating a single, unified "Qoria Platform". You will lead a talented team responsible for building and scaling the critical, shared services—like device management, authentication and data syncing—that underpin everything we do. You'll be working with cutting-edge tech, including GCP and Golang, to solve complex architectural challenges as we scale to support tens of millions of endpoints globally.
Your Impact: What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead Platform Delivery: Drive the technical strategy and execution for Qoria’s core platform services, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and secure enough to be the foundation for our entire product suite.
- Build and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Cultivate a healthy, engaged, and highly-effective engineering squad. You will act as a trusted leader, developing the talent on your team and fostering a culture of technical excellence and ownership.
- Drive Technical and Architectural Strategy: Work in close partnership with Product Management to own the "how" of building our unified platform. You'll make key architectural decisions to evolve our systems, ensuring they meet the needs of today and the challenges of tomorrow.
- Ensure Predictable, High-Quality Delivery: In collaboration with the Product team, you'll negotiate the balance between shipping value, managing quality, and mitigating risk to establish a predictable timeline for our most complex initiatives.
- Champion Unification Across the Business: Act as the go-to leader for platform delivery, instilling confidence in stakeholders from your team members to senior leadership. You will collaborate with and influence teams across the business to drive adoption of core services and achieve our unified vision.
What You Will Bring
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, leading teams in the design, delivery, and operation of complex, distributed systems.
- A strong architectural mindset, with the ability to own the technical strategy for platform-level services (e.g., identity, APIs, data pipelines).
- Hands-on experience with modern cloud-native technologies; experience with GCP and Golang is highly advantageous.
- A track record of mentoring and developing engineers, including fostering new leaders within your team.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with Product and influence stakeholders across the organization.
- An inquisitive, collaborative, and proactive nature, always looking for opportunities to improve teams, systems, and outcomes.
Why Choose Qoria?
- Tech with Purpose: Your work here truly matters. Your leadership will directly contribute to building the platform that protects children from cyberbullying, harmful content, and other online dangers. It feels good to do good.
- Solve Globally-Scaled Puzzles: You'll tackle fascinating technology challenges for a global customer base, working on a platform that is predominantly cloud-based across AWS, GCP, and Azure. We are not bound by "how it's always been done"; if a technology provides greater stability, security, or customer value, we will explore it.
- A Culture of Ownership & Teamwork: We believe individuals win games, but teamwork wins leagues. Our culture is built on our core values: ‘Care always’, ‘Learn, Solve, Repeat’, and ‘Win Together’. We empower our teams with autonomy and trust, supporting you to do your best work without micromanagement.
- A Career You Own: We are committed to your growth. Qoria is a significant local employer, with 90 of our 600+ global team based right here in our home state of Western Australia. We offer defined career pathways, support for attending conferences, and a fast-paced, supportive learning environment.
- The Benefits: In addition to doing work you can be proud of, you can expect a competitive salary including company shares, flexible working options, and a fantastic office space in Perth.
Ready to lead the team building the core of our global safety platform? We'd love to discuss how your leadership can drive our mission forward.
At this stage we are only accepting application from those with full working rights in Australia.
Shortlisting will commence immediately.
