Join the Victorian School Building Authority’s School Evaluation and Planning team as a Project Officer. Play a key role in building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, analysing data to guide program outcomes and costings, and developing high‑quality briefs and policy documents that improve program management and governance.
About the Role
This is a fixed‑term full‑time position until 5 July 2026.
Reporting to the Manager, School Evaluation and Planning, Asset Planning Branch, the Project Officer will work across the division and VSBA to analyse school sites and develop recommendations on investment priorities across the school portfolio. The role offers high autonomy and requires self‑motivation and a collaborative approach.
Key Accountabilities
- Promote and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the Authority and across the Department.
- Provide data analysis using various data sources for program and costings analysis to inform funding decisions.
- Respond to requests for information from the Minister’s Office and the VSBA Executive team.
- Develop and write briefs and policies to implement and improve program management and governance.
- Collaborate with other units to determine and maintain best‑practice data management, collection and interpretation.
- Maintain and monitor strong project administration for programs that address school maintenance and enrolment growth.

Attributes
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of reporting, analysis and management practices along with strong communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Science – Public Policy.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within government.

About the Victorian School Building Authority
The VSBA is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria’s largest school building program. It upgrades and expands existing schools, plans, designs and builds new schools, and supports maintenance and grant coordination.
With Victoria’s introduction of two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a major kindergarten construction program.
About the Division
The Strategy and Planning Division manages the VSBA’s operating framework, investment strategy, policy setting, asset information management, budget strategy and coordination, and delivery of specific school strategies.
The Asset Planning Branch designs and delivers school‑level infrastructure strategies, manages school application‑based and maintenance funding programs, and maintains asset data for school buildings.
The School Evaluation and Planning Unit delivers individual school infrastructure strategies, evaluates schools for future investment, and advises government on capital needs across the portfolio.
