Job description:

• Plan menus in collaboration with management, considering dietary requirements and customer preferences

• Estimate food and labour costs to assist with budgeting

• Order and manage food supplies to ensure availability and freshness

• Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

• Discuss food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen/waiting staff

• Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise on proper procedures to kitchen staff

• Prepare and cook meals to high standards of taste and appearance

• Enforce hygiene and safety regulations in the kitchen

• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff as needed

• May be responsible for freezing and preserving foods for later use

Qualifications/Attributes:

• Must hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of the qualification

• Must possess at least a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.

• Have outstanding communication and leadership skills.

• Must have the willingness to collaborate with other colleagues.

• Must be obsessed with cooking, including unique and emerging trends.

• Must have good planning and organisational skills.

• Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 p.a. excluding superannuation.
