As the Payroll Lead, you will perform a vital role in ensuring the timely processing of approximately 1200 employees on a fortnightly basis. Leading a team of two, your responsibilities will include overseeing and managing the payroll system, payroll auditing tasks, addressing complex payroll queries and supporting the team with a hands-on approach. Additionally, you will be responsible for the management of superannuation, work cover, salary packaging and preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
**Key responsibilities**
- Provide high level current technical understanding to support and contribute to payroll and HR system integration and workflow methodology.
- Maintain a well-developed understanding of and ensure compliance with legislation and policy frameworks, establishing and implementing policies accordingly.
- Manage the delivery of effective and efficient payroll operations ensuring the appropriate payment, disbursement, checking, and reconciliation procedures are in place and undertaken in a timely manner.
- Ensure the Enterprise Agreement conditions of employment and supporting statutory policy and legislation relating to payroll, taxation and superannuation activities is understood, applied and operating correctly.
- Interpret day-to-day business objectives and preparation/execution of operational practices/work programs.
- Oversee daily work activities and assigned tasks; organises and prioritises payroll department workload, monitors status of work in progress; and audit completed work.
**Experience and skills**
- Tertiary qualification or Diploma level, preferably in Finance/Accounting/Payroll or substantial relevant experience.
- Minimum 3- 5 year’s current experience in a senior payroll position, managing a small to medium payroll within a complex environment.
