About the opportunities

The Victorian Indigenous Research Centre is looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing culturally appropriate spaces for and services to Victoria's Indigenous population and who are enthusiastic about working with cultural heritage collections and amplifying Indigenous voices.
As the VIRC Coordinator Community Connection, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating the delivery of programs, projects, initiatives and services that ensure the Victorian Aboriginal community is aware of and can participate in the VIRC's activities. You will also contribute to the strengthening and management of relationships with the Indigenous Victorian Aboriginal community. This role is the perfect opportunity for someone who thrives on connecting with others, and who is well versed in collaborative and consultative development of engagement programs for a wide range of Indigenous stakeholders, including individuals, groups and community organisations.
As the VIRC Coordinator Curatorial & Collections, you will be providing internal advice on acquisition, processing, description and exhibition of Indigenous cultural material as well as advice on rights and cultural safety related to the library's collections including its Cultural Permissions Program. You will also be advising on policy relating to the collection and the work of the VIRC. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is passionate about Indigenous cultural heritage material and on working to ensure that the Victorian Aboriginal community is aware of, is informed about and has access to Indigenous cultural material held in the collections of State Library Victoria.
As the VIRC Support Officer, you will provide customer service and assistance to users of the Centre, and administrative support to Centre staff responsible for the development and delivery of its programs, projects and special initiatives including its Cultural Permissions Program. This is a great opportunity for an administrative professional who prides themself on providing excellent and personable support, customer service and assistance.
