THE ROLE
The Manager, Aboriginal Governance and Engagement is a member of the Aboriginal Initiatives Unit leadership team in the Family & Sexual Violence Programs Branch, Family Safety Victoria division, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. The Manager provides line management for three centrally based staff and two team leaders that manage the 11 Regional Coordinators. The Manager leads the team to deliver on activities under Dhelk Dja Strategic Priority One - Aboriginal Culture and Leadership and Priority Two - Aboriginal-led Prevention and relevant activities under the Dhelk Dja Three Year Action Plan and the Dhelk Dja 10 Year Agreement.
The Manager has responsibility for providing strategic leadership, coordination and operational support for Dhelk Dja Action Groups, Regional Coordinators across Victoria through regular engagement mechanisms. The role is responsible for ensuring that the 11 Dhelk Dja Action Groups are well supported to deliver their initiatives and regional priorities under the Dhelk Dja; Safe Our Way - Strong Cultures, Strong Peoples, Strong Families 10 Year Agreement.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Strengthen and support the 11 Dhelk Dja Action Groups across Victoria to ensure the Dhelk Dja regional governance structure, initiatives and regional priorities are self-determining and community-led under the Dhelk Dja 10 Year Agreement.
- Provide project management and the secretariat function of the Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum and its other governance structures to strategically plan, design and implement specific actions and funding in the Dhelk Dja Three Year Action Plans aligned to the strategic priorities in the 10 Year Agreement, with a specific focus on the design and implementation of:

- Strategic Priority One: Aboriginal culture and leadership
- Strategic Priority Two: Aboriginal-led prevention
- the annual Aboriginal Community Initiatives Fund
- Provide leadership and line management to the two team leaders and three centrally based positions. Effectively manage and provide leadership to a team of employees by:

- leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes
- modelling behaviour integral to good people management and departmental values
- where relevant, managing and monitoring specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans relating to the area of responsibility
- pro-actively building and maintaining positive relationships with peers and stakeholders across the organisation.
